New Bishop to Appear at Celebrate Life Banquet

How Did PA End Up in the Center of a National Abortion Flap?
Executive Director Michael Ciccocioppo has written an
insightful op-ed piece about the turn of events that caused the Commonwealth to
become the center of a national debate over public funding of abortion. You'll
find his piece at
http://www.centredaily.com/2010/07/23/2110103/state-finds-itself-at-center-of.html?mi_pluck_action=comment_submitted&qwxq=4502474#Comments_Container
.
Notorious Abortionist Ordered Out of PA
Notorious abortionist Steven Brigham has been ordered to get out of the abortion
business in Pennsylvania.
The PA Department of Health says Brigham can no longer own abortion centers in
the Commonwealth, following revelations that he was employing unlicensed staff.
Brigham has operated abortion facilities in Pittsburgh, Allentown, State
College, and Erie. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer
newspaper, his medical license has been revoked, relinquished, or temporarily
suspended in five states. Brigham is reportedly appealing the health
department's decision. He also faces nearly a quarter of a million dollars in
liens from the Internal Revenue Service.
DISCLOSE Act Successfully Blocked
An outrageous piece of legislation known as the DISCLOSE Act has been
successfully blocked in the U.S. Senate. The bill would have placed extensive
restrictions on the ability of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation, National
Right to Life, and other groups to communicate with the public about the actions
of federal lawmakers. Thanks for placing calls and sending e-mails opposing this
legislation!
New York Times Predicts Pro-Life Supreme Court Decisions
The New York Times is predicting that the U.S. Supreme
Court will continue to issue decisions curtailing abortion. The
Times bases this prediction on the High Court's record under Chief
Justice John Roberts. You can read the Times article
at

.
African-Americans Concerned About Abortion
From a MySpace bulletin from Priests for Life:
Priests for Life is releasing the results of polling and focus group work it
recently commissioned among the African-American community. Commenting on the
results, The Polling Company/Woman Trend President Kellyanne Conway said,
“African Americans are concerned about the scourge of abortion in their
community, and respond to related facts and figures.” She continued, “Large
majorities agree that every life should have a chance, regardless of race,
socioeconomic status or circumstance. They support pregnancy resource centers
and call for greater assistance by family, friends and religious and community
leaders to help pregnant women and their babies.”

Chapter Information from Around the State
Starting on August 9th and continuing through August 14th, our Butler County
chapter, Butler County Pennsylvanians for Human Life (www.PHLButler.org),
will have their annual pro-life educational booth at the Butler Farm Show. One
of the PA Pro-Life Federation’s original chapters, the Butler County PHL has
been very actively promoting the cause for life in their community for many
years.
Our Greene County chapter will be at it again starting on August 9th through
August 14th as they take their pro-life educational table to the Greene County
Fair for the 4th consecutive year. The event is traditionally an amazing
experience for the chapter as men, women, boys, and girls from Greene County
stop by the table to pick up a free 12-week fetal model, and share heart-warming
pro-life testimonies.
Live in Southeast PA? Contact SE Regional Coordinator Heather Wilson to find out
more about joining a chapter in Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, Delaware, or
