Pennsylvania Pro-Life Essay & Oratory Contests
You have a chance to speak for your
generation...
...and the generation to follow...
The Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation is offering two exciting opportunities for you to show off your pro-life views: an essay contest and an oratory contest. The essay contest is open to Pennsylvania students in grades 7-12. All you have to do is write an essay on abortion, infanticide, or euthanasia. Word limit is 500 for grades 7-9; 750 for grades 10-12. Winners in both the junior high and high school competitions will receive cash prizes. All entries must include a title page with the student’s name, complete address, phone number, grade, and name of school. All entries must be postmarked by March 1, 2009. Winners will be announced in April, 2009. Entries should be mailed to: Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation; 4800 Jonestown Rd., Suite 102; Harrisburg, PA; 17109 or e-mailed to lifelines@paprolife.org .
The oratory contest is open to Pennsylvania high school juniors and seniors. You must prepare a five to seven minute talk on abortion, infanticide, and euthanasia. You can use appropriate hand gestures, but no props are allowed. Contestants are encouraged to deliver their speeches without notes. Students must first compete in local and/or regional contests, with the winners going on to compete in the statewide competition in Harrisburg. The winner of the state contest will receive an all-expense paid trip to the National Right to Life convention, where the student will take part in the national pro-life oratory competition. The local, regional, and statewide oratory contests will take place in spring, 2009.
